We need to put talent insights on the school curriculum
We need talent insights on the school timetable 🧠 – and at Birkerød Gymnasium they are leading the way! Last week, I had the great
May 1st flew by like so many other working days and to be honest, it was only a few days later that it “hit” me.
7 years is actually quite a long time – and something I’m quite proud of deep down.
I sat down to look back on the journey.
Wow, there’s a lot to be happy and grateful for.
My self-employment is now the job I’ve had for the longest time, and I haven’t regretted that decision for one day.
That’s not to say it’s been easy and fun every day – far from it.
The thought of applying for a job has definitely visited me more than once, but when I look back on a day like today, it’s definitely the positive things that stick with me.
That’s why I wanted to dive into my reflections on that time.
Probably mostly for myself, but also with the humble hope that it might be used by others to take a shortcut or find inspiration.
Every day is new and the weeks are awaited with excitement because I never quite know what it will bring.
However, most of them are filled with exciting meetings, dialogues and development of people and companies, which is exactly what I am passionate about.
I see it as a constant journey where there is always room for improvement and development.
The to-do list is never empty (frustrating sometimes) and the development potential increases as I learn more, am challenged and reach my goals – for myself and with my customers.
When I look back on the 7 years, there have been many good and not so good decisions.
No regrets, because even the worst choices I have learned from and they have given me the experience to make better decisions later.
If I could give myself 5 pieces of advice 7 years ago, I think they would have been something like this:
Drop the idea of knowing (all) the way to the destination.
There are so many opportunities along the way, and you need to make room for them – because there is often a point to it.
But stay focused on the goal and what you want to achieve.
Trust your gut and intuition.
There aren’t many decisions (I don’t think there are any) that I’ve made against my gut that have been successful.
Remember to celebrate your successes and be proud.
In busy and challenging times, it’s all too often forgotten to celebrate what has gone well, and the “difficult” has been allowed to take up too much space.
The energy in celebrating and being proud gives you the courage to do more and make things happen.
Be inspired by the best and know that you are good enough.
Find people in your network that you look up to and be inspired by what they can and do.
Remember that you are unique – in your own way and there is room for what you can do.
Never let off the gas and find your own style.
Always have goals in mind and never slow down on development.
It’s a tough game and nothing comes easy.
Find a flow that matches your way of working and stay focused on your goals.
Focus on them and let the opportunities come to you.
From day one, I knew that my path through self-employment would be built through networking.
I can’t count the number of inspiring hours I have spent in the company of exciting people, where I achieved relationships and friendships with more people than I could have dreamed of.
1000 thanks to all you amazing people I have met along the way – I am extremely happy and grateful for each and every one – and best of all, I am convinced that the journey has only just begun.
Today, I think I’m in a great place with the best people around me, a clear process and a field of competence I’m 100% comfortable in – culture, branding and strategy are the waters I swim around in like the happiest dolphin.
Guiding leaders and companies to create well-being and sustainable growth is my calling, and it’s what I cultivate and refine my skills in every day.
This is where I add value – both personally and organizationally – and where I can look back on exciting projects and processes that have brought companies one or more steps closer to their goals and dreams.
